Indian airline Jet Airways has put a limit on a number of bags that a passenger can check in. On Friday, Jet Airways has revised guidelines to follow the number based check-in policy. This airline has announced to put conditions on baggage limit in that an economy class passenger can check in for free only with one bag that weighs 15kg or less, while a “premiere” class passenger is allowed to carry two free check-in bags, each not more than 15 kg.

After the revised guidelines, Jet Airline has become the first airline in India to introduce restrictions on the number of check-in bags and for that passenger who will be travelling in economy class with Jet platinum card can carry two bags not exceeding 15 kg each (30 kg total) , Jet Airways said, simultaneously for those who will be travelling in premier class will be able to carry two bags not exceeding 25 kg each (50kg in total).  “Jet Airways is changing the baggage concept from weight to piece for sales effective June 15 and travel effective July 15,” said a note sent by the Jet Airways to travel agents on Friday.  While the Jet Airways has not analyzed about rules in case a passenger checks in with an excess number of bags as currently, passengers give a fee for only excess weight.

A senior Jet officer said that  Starting June 15, airlines will be moving to “single-bag concept” on flights within India, and the new rules will not apply for those who bought tickets before June 15. The airline cleared that ‘’ if the person does booking after 15th June for travel on or before July 14, 2018 will be held right to free baggage allowance by weight of 15 kg for travel in Economy and 30 kg for travel in Premeire”  and it is not  cleared that  when a person who does not follow the new guideline and brings number of bags than how the airline will handle that passenger.  For example – if a person who is traveling in economy class has two checks in bags, one is weighing 10 kg and the other 5kg than Jet Airways will charge a fee for the second bag. As in present, a person has to pay only for excess weight.

Jet Airways also said that the conditions on the number of check-in bags are been in place on international flights for about a year now.
