Padmaavat Protests Turns WILD! Protesters Set Theater On Fire In Ahmedabad

Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s directorial has been on the radar of Rajput communities, fringe outfits, and political parties, but the period drama has found support in Bollywood. With Padmavati row getting difficult by the day, it was earlier observed that the movie will be released on December 1st which already is long way gone.

Padmavati has been facing constant opposition in the form of violence and threats from members of Rajput Karni Sena ever since they disrupted the shoot of the film in Jaipur earlier this year. Now that the movie is all set to hit the theaters on 25th of this month, which is tomorrow, the movie has been topping the news charts.

While many of the prominent actors have come forward supporting the release of the film, there are others who remained mum all the way. On the other hand, without even having a quick watch, protesters throughout the country are pelting stones at the makers and theaters.

The situation at Ahmedabad is far more than worse. The Karni Sena protesters went handling the situation in a weird and a non-democratic manner. They took the movement into their hands and went vandalizing the theater.

Despite receiving a green signal from Supreme Court, this Sanjay Leela Bhansali directorial is still not having a peaceful release. And, this recent incident at Ahmedabad’s mall is raising some serious concerns, as the protesters at the place charged over a ticket counter by setting it on fire as they are going to screen ‘Padmaavat’ there.

We came across a video of the same on Instagram. Watch it here:

It is incidents such as this which are scaring the theaters and distributors. In a couple of states, the theatre owners are scared to screen the film as it might damage their property. We wonder if ‘Padmaavat’ will have a peaceful release or not.

But, as Supreme Court permitted the movie’s release, it is the duty of Police officials to monitor the theaters and let the release be peaceful.
