Dr Kalam who rose from position of a paperboy to a personality of news making with his inspiring deeds and thoughts. He was affectionately called as ‘People’s President’ will be given a state funeral with full military honours at 11 am today at his native place Rameswaram. Sources claim that Dr Kalam would be buried at Pei Karumbu, near Rameswaram town and close to the sea. Hundreds of followers, politicians, including Prime Minister of India would be attending the last rites of the beloved statesmen of India.
Defence Minister Manohar Parikar and Union Urban Development Minister Venkaih Naidu are looking after all the arrangements. Congress vice-president Rahul Gandhi, Leader of the Opposition in Rajya Sabha Ghulam Nabi Azad and Congress’ leader in Lok Sabha Mallikarjun Kharge are speculated to be attending the funeral of the former president. Chief Ministers of Kerala Oommen Chandy, Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Chandra Babu Naidu and Karnataka CM Siddaramaiah will also attend Kalam’s last rites.
