Police Report: 2 people, which includes a 24-year-old woman was arrested by the police as they were the primary suspects in the killing of a magazine editor in the district of Thane, Maharashtra.
The dead body of 45-year-old Nityanand Pandey, an editor in India Unbound was found with injuries on its head in Khardi, Thane near a creek.
Nityanand went missing on March 15, 2019, his family members filed a complaint at the police station.
On Monday, Shivaji Rathod the Superintendent of Thane Police said that the killing was a result of an alleged sexual harassment case that was filed by 24-year-old Ankita Mishra who was arrested by the police.
Superintendent Shivaji Rathod said, “Based on our probe, we have arrested Ankita Mishra, who worked as an assistant to Pandey, and Satish Umashankar Mishra, 34, who ran a printing press where the deceased’s news magazine was printed.”
He added “Ankita was working with Pandey for three years and she has said she was facing sexual harassment at his hands for two years. She then conspired with Satish to kill him”
Superintendent Shivaji Rathod said “On March 15, the two accused took Pandey on the pretext of showing him a row house in Uttan. They spiked his protein drink which rendered Pandey unconscious. They then strangled him and threw his body in a creek near Khardi village.”
An FIR has been registered against Ankita Mishra and Satish Umashankar Mishra under several sections of the IPC.
