The chief minister Mamata Banerjee addressed a gathering on the state secretariat in Nabanna West Bengal, there was a debate held on efficient utilization of assets. After meeting the government’s new austerity measures Mamata Banerjee reassures that the public welfare schemes would not be affected by the federal government’s new austerity measures. Chief Minister also told that to cut down the wasteful expenditure was the main purpose of the government’s austerity measures.
During the meeting, Mamta Banerjee said that
“We have to avoid wastage of resources, but not at the cost of public services. We have to stop wasteful expenditure and spend money on necessary services instead. We cannot compromise on schemes like Kanyashree, Sabuj Shree, Sikshashree and Sabuj Sathi. Yet, we feel there are several untouched areas where we have to reduce our spending. At times, faulty tendering for some technical reasons results in loss of money. We have to take remedial measures for the same,”
Meanwhile, Mamata Banerjee also targeted the venture’s government on debt burden and added in a statement that the West Bengal government is trying its best to serve the public in spite of a huge debt burden like the Centre’s governing besides this she also said that center government behaves like a stepmother to the public.
However, Mamta Banerjee also stated that her state government concentrate on planning, create an outline and set timelines for projects to achieve the goal. Mamata’s government would provide counseling and training as well. she further discussed training programmes that would be conducted by the finance department and engineers would be trained by the PWD. She even discussed a project clearance committee that the committee would be headed by the Chief Secretary to adjust and re-adjust human resources.
At the time when CM addressing the people, Mamata Ji also asserted that ”the government would have to spend Rs 5,000 crore extra to give dearness allowance (DA) to its employees this year, it will have to pay Rs 46,000 crore on debts incurred by the erstwhile Left Front government”.
although, Mamta Banerjee also gave a statement that “We have increased planned expenditure by five times in the last seven years, capital expenditure has increased four times, physical infrastructure has grown by four times and social spending has increased more than fourfold. We are continuously reforming the system. We have reduced the number of departments from 63 to 51 after merging 12 of them. At a time when farmers are in distress all over the country, we have tripled farmers’ income. The government’s money is the people’s money… Our approach is completely people-centric,”
According to the sources, The Trinamool Congress has removed Trinamool Chhatra Parishad (TMCP) state president Jaya Dutta from the post.
it is also assumed that as per the sources there would be an appointment of a new TMCP state president within 10 days.
