This shocking incident took place in Bihar’s Patna. The video of the situation is now going viral, in the recording, we can see an Indian man is begging to be released after he was allegedly abducted and forced to marry a complete stranger at gunpoint. Coming to the details, the youngster’s name is Vinod Kumar, claims he was made to marry an unnamed woman in Patna in the Indian state of Bihar. He added that his in-laws ignored his sobbing pleas and asked him: “Are you being hanged? We are only solemnizing your wedding.”
“Why are you worried? Which mountain is being placed on your head?” As per the sources, Kumar is reportedly an engineer from the neighboring state of Jharkhand, where he works in a steel plant. He is thought to have become a victim of “pakdua shadi”, where families abduct men to marry their daughters when they cannot afford a dowry.
Post the marriage, he contacted media and told that he agreed to meet a man he thought was a friend while he was nearby to attend a wedding as a guest. He says the friend, named as Surendra Yadav, now his unwanted brother-in-law, had joined with other men to kidnap him at gunpoint.
“We were taken hostage after reaching Gopkita and Surendra and his family members thrashed us. One of his family members pointed a pistol and ordered me to marry the girl,” said Kumar. He then added, “After my forced marriage, the girl’s family members kept me inside a room a whole night. Next day, I contacted my brother, who reached the village and contacted the police.”
Vinod’s brother Awadhesh was the person who complained to cops, he cleared off that police were of little help in the issue. Talking about this, he said, “Vinod was forced to marry the girl at her house at gunpoint. He was abducted by her brother in a Scorpio car the previous night. Police are not helping us. He was forced to marry Yadav’s sister even as men holding guns stood watching and issued threats.”
Awadhesh concluded that cops urged him and his brother to sort out the problem by themselves. Contrary to his statement, Superintendent Lalan Mohan Prasad said: “I am looking into the matter and action will be taken against the accused persons.”

As of now, the whereabouts of Vinod Kumar is unknown. Indian police view the abduction of men for “pakdua shadi” as a social ill rather than a crime and therefore not a police matter.
