A 25-year-old man allegedly committed suicide after the father and the family of his lover humiliated him and forced him to touch the girl’s feet and call her his sister. The victim is identified as Yagya Sharan Dutt.
Yagya Dutt hanged himself on September 19 as he was depressed over humiliation by his lover’s family. A relative of the deceased said that the girl’s family was responsible for Yagya’s death and they had disgraced him.
“Yagya was in a relationship with a girl. Last week, the couple had gone for lunch in a restaurant. There Yagya was hit by few ‘acquaintances’ of the girl,” Yagya’s relative said. Hence, the dead body of Yagya and the girl was taken to the Police-station, where Yagya’s uncle and the girl’s family members were called.
Yagya’s relatives alleged that the girl’s father insulted Yagya and asked him to stay away from his daughter. He also made him touch the girl’s feet and accept her as his sister.
A senior police officer Yagya, who used to stay with his uncle, hanged himself when his uncle had gone to work. “We are not suspecting foul play as of now. In the post-mortem report, there were no signs of physical torture. The man was depressed since the girl did not reciprocate his advances,” said a senior police officer.
