Man Visits Crater of Diamonds State Park In Arkansas For Vacation, Ends Up Finding 9.07 Carat Diamond

A bank manager that was on vacation was visiting the Crater of Diamonds State Park in Arkansas, USA, when they found a 9.07 diamond carat.

Initially, the bank manager thought that the diamond was just glass.

Kevin Kinard, a 33-year-old bank manager, was visiting the Crater of Diamonds State Park in Arkansas on Labor day when he found the diamond.

Kinard, who is from Maumelle, Arkansas, discovered the second largest diamond ever found in the state park.

Park officials said that the largest diamond to be ever found in the Crater of Diamonds State Park in Arkansas was a 16.37 carat white Amarillo Starlight.

That diamond was discovered in August 1975.

A press release that was carried out by the Crater of Diamonds State Park in Arkansas said that the bank manager was with his friends when he found the crystal.

The diamond was round and had a dimpled shape.

During an interview with the New York Post, Kinard said:

It kind of looked interesting and shiny, so I put it in my bag and kept searching. I just thought it might’ve been glass.

It is customary for visitors to name their large Crater diamonds if they find one.

Kinard decided to name his diamond as the “Kinard Friendship Diamond”.

Grady Spann, the Arkansas State Parks Director, released a statement about the incident, where they said:

This latest diamond find is a testament to maintaining the diamond search area with a focus on sustaining the resource at Crater of Diamonds State Park, as well as creating the opportunity to find a diamond and make lifetime memories for all of our guests.
