Man Who Had Been Blind For Over 2 Decades Regains Sight After Getting Hit By Car

A man that was blind for over 2 decades claims he regained his sight after being hit by a car.

Janusz Goraj, from Gorzow Wielkopolski City in Poland, said he regained his eyesight after he was hit by a car.

Goraj currently works as a security guard at the hospital that treated him after the accident.

Goraj said he got blind at a young age after having a bad allergic reaction.

The security guard said he was completely blind in his left eye and could only recognize shapes and lights in his right eye.

But everything changed after he was hit by a car in 2018.

As Goraj was using a pedestrian crossing in his city, a car hit him.

Goraj said he fell on the car bonnet, hit his head, and slipped and fell on the road, which might have helped him regain his sight.

After the accident, he was rushed to the Independent Public Provincial Hospital in the western Polish region of Lubusz Voivodeship.

At the hospital, Goraj underwent hip surgery.

A spokesperson of the hospital said, “At a certain age such fractures do not heal so quickly, so he had to be hospitalized. At that time, the doctors weren’t concerned about his vision because of his injuries.”

He did recover from his injuries, but the doctors were shocked about the fact that he regained his eyesight after the accident.

The doctors were baffled as much as you guys are, and it is unlikely that we will ever get to know the reason behind this because Goraj doesn’t want to take part in tests on the future.

According to the local press, the eyesight did improve.

A spokesperson for the hospital, Agnieszka Wisniewska, said, “His eyesight did improve within two weeks. We don’t quite know what caused it, maybe the mix of drugs he was getting during that time.”

That is the first theory, and the second one is that the large doses of anticoagulant medicines, mixed with other drugs could have helped him regain his eyesight.

As of now, Boraj works at the hospital that treated him as a security guard.

Talking about the job, Wisniewska said, “We don’t know if he specifically asked for the job or if it’s just a coincidence, but he is working here with us.”
