A manhunt is currently ongoing for 31-year-old Tony Maycon Munoz-Mendez from Georgia, a convicted rapist, and child molester after he was mistakenly let out of prison.

31-year-old Tony began to serve 1 of the 3 life sentences that were handed 2 him in 2015 after he was found guilty in raping and molesting a child in Gwinnett County in Georgia.

Due to an error, Munoz-Mendez was released from Rogers State Prison in Reidsville at around noon on October 25, 2019.

Authorities launched a manhunt right away, after realizing the mistake.

The Georgia Department of Corrections released a statement about the mistake 3 days after the incident.

The department did not explain how and who made the mistake and why it took them 3 days to release a statement.

In a comment that was released by the Georgia Department of Corrections, they said, “The priority of the GDC is apprehending the offender as quickly as possible and at this time we have all resources focused on the search.”

They added, “As soon as the error was discovered, the GDC immediately put those resources into place. While we do not have enough information to share specifics of the search, we will be following any and every lead made available to us.”

The Georgia Department of Corrections and the United States Marshals Service are currently finding the 31-year-old child rapist.

In 2015, a judge in Gwinnett County gave Munoz-Mendez 3 life sentences after he was found guilty in child molestation and rape of a child that is under 10-years-old.

Munoz raped and molested the 10-year-old daughter of his girlfriend.

Munoz reportedly molested and abused the girl for a number of years before he was caught.

Munoz-Mendez is around 5 feet 9 inches tall and is around 186 pounds.

The Georgia Department of Corrections and the United States Marshals Service have asked locals and the public to call 911 if they spot Munoz-Mendez.

They also warned not to approach him.
