Microsoft, the software giant has finally launched their long-awaited flagship range of tablet, Surface Pro 4 in India at an event held in New Delhi. The company has launched the device at a starting price tag of Rs 89,990. Looking at an expensive price range, the tech behemoth is certainly targeting high-end consumers. At the event, the company announced that the device will be sold exclusively via Amazon India for the first six months and shipping will begin from January 14.
The new Surface Pro 4 tablet is also available at various Microsoft Stores that are located at Noida, Gurgaon, Delhi, Bengaluru and Mumbai. The Microsoft Surface Pro 4 tablet will be offered in three variants in India and each model of the Microsoft Surface Pro 4 has a 12.3-inch display screen with a PixelSense feature. During the biggest Microsoft ‘Future Unleashed’ event in Mumbai held in the month of November last year, Microsoft CEO Satya Nadella had also announced that the company’s Surface Pro 4 tablet will launch in India in January 2016.
As promised earlier, the company has now launched the high-end specd tablet in India at a competitive price range. The tablet was initially launched in October 2015, in the US at a cost of $899. The tech giant also launched the 2013’s Surface Pro 3 in India, priced at Rs 73,990 that includes Intel Core i3 variant, with 4GB RAM and a 128GB SSD.
Specifications
The Surface Pro 4 is the fourth generation Surface tablet that measures the same size as Surface Pro 3 but features a slightly larger 12.3-inch display thanks to the thinner bezels. The Surface Pro 4 is powered by the 6th generation Intel Core M, Core i5 or Core i7 processors. The tablet comes in five different variants with RAM ranging from 4GB to 16GB. It offers SSD storage options going from 128GB all the way to 1TB. The Surface Pro 4 weighs around 766 grams and has a thickness of 8.4mm.
On the camera front, the device comes equipped with an 8MP rear camera and a 5MP front camera for video calls. In terms of connectivity, the tablet supports Wi-fi 802.11ac, Bluetooth 4.0, a full-size USB 3.0 port and other standard connectivity options. The Surface Pro 4 Tablet runs on Windows 10 operating system that naturally comes out of the box.
As for accessories, the new Surface Pro 4 comes along with a Surface Pen, which has an eraser button on one end and can be used to clip onto the tablet with the help of magnets. The tip of the Pen has around 1024 pressure sensitive points which are used to ensure that the responsiveness of the Pen is on the higher side. Using the Surface Pen, one can easily activate Microsoft Cortana.
The company claims that the tablet is power-packed by a 39Wh battery that can give up to 9 hours of video playback. Microsoft has also designed a new Type Cover, with more spacious keys and a glass trackpad, 40 percent larger than its predecessor which supports all Windows 10 gestures.

The Microsoft Surface Pro 4 tablet will be offered in three variants in India such as:
- Core i5 – 4GB RAM and 128GB SSD priced at Rs 89,990
- Core i5 – 8GB RAM and 256GB SSD variant at Rs 1,20,990
- Core i7 – 8GB RAM and 256GB SSD variant at Rs 1,44,990
In addition to that, Microsoft is also selling a Surface Pen and a Surface Pro 4 Type Cover Keyboard. The Surface Pen cost around INR 5,990 and a Surface Pro 4 Type Cover keyboard, that is available in two variant colors such as blue and black priced at INR 12,490.
