Microsoft OneDrive And SharePoint Get Features Like Transcription For Video And Audio And Smart Image Search

On Tuesday, Microsoft announced a whole new kind of capabilities that are being introduced through its apps over the coming next few weeks and months. These kinds of capabilities also include native video and audio transcription support for Microsoft’s OneDrive and SharePoint, video, AI-based audio and image recognition features and also extraction in OneDrive and SharePoint and another one being new intelligent files view on OneDrive and Office.com home page. Many other additions include file access statistics details that are going to be built right into the native Office application, intelligent content sharing and access to crucial data insights.

Later this year, OneDrive will have AI-powered transcription features, audio, and video file transcription with native support and later on, SharePoint will start. The technology will be completely based on the functionality like that of Microsoft Stream. A display of transcript will be done, alongside the playing of video or audio file which will, in turn, allow users to collect data in a more meaningful manner.

“Once you’re ready to make a video broadly available across the organization, you can upload and publish to Microsoft Stream. You’ll continue to get transcription services plus other AI-driven capabilities, including in-video face detection and automatic captions,” said Omar Shahine, Partner Director of Program Management for OneDrive and SharePoint, in the company blog post. “Importantly, your audio and video content never leaves the Microsoft Cloud; it is not passed through potentially costly and insecure third-party services.”

Microsoft is utilizing native and on-device AI to enable the recognition of objects in images along with text extraction tools to be able to deliver refined search experience. Users will also get the ability to conduct video and audio files with the help of automated transcriptions.

Among other things that are in the pipeline, is the planning by Microsoft to introduce a redesigned file view for Office.com and OneDrive home page that will enable us to use AI tools which will based on Microsoft Graph learning and the content shared on Microsoft 365.

The updated file card experience of OneDrive and SharePoint is being borrowed for the native Office application which will in turn help provide access statistics for files stored on the online platform. With the help of intelligent Sharing, users of the facility will get the opportunity to share relevant content with meeting attendees by using a combination of apps like PowerPoint and Outlook. The facility is exclusively available when you store all of your content in OneDrive and SharePoint.
