Microsoft To Introduce New Features As It Announces Windows 10 October 2018 Update At IFA

During the IFA 2018, Microsoft announced the name of its soon to be available Windows 10 update, which is called as ‘Redstone 5’ internally. Microsoft further said that the next feature update to Windows would be officially called as the Window 10 October 2018 Update. With the help of the update, the company aims to introduce new features and several enhancements to nearly 700 million devices that run Windows 10. However, Microsoft did not elaborate on the details about what’s in store in the update and said that more details will available near the release date. The company is in the process of testing Redstone 5 publicly through its Windows Insider Program and will go into details for some of the features that the testing revealed.

Microsoft showcased some of its Windows PCs during its keynote presentation at IFA 2018 in Berlin like Lenovo Yoga C630, Yoga Book C930, Dell Inspiron 13 7000 2-in-1, Surface Go, Acer Predator Triton 900, among others. Microsoft Corporate Vice President Erin Chapple confirmed during the sharing of the new Windows experiences in the event that there will be more things coming with the next Windows 10 update.

The company introduced many new developments in Microsoft’s core products at the Microsoft Build 2018 held in May. Many of those announcements were related to Window’s 10. While there is no official reconfirmation about the features that it is bringing to the final Windows 10 October 2018 Update, the company is expected to introduce several new features like Dark Mode in File Explorer, Your Phone app and many more.

Previously, Microsoft had stated that the dark theme is one of the many features that is going to make its way to Windows 10 and initially, will be available on File Explorer context menu, File Explorer and Common File Dialog menu. A whole new Clipboard has also been a part of the Windows 10 Preview for some time. The new Clipboard will have cloud-based support and can be viewed through the shortcut keys Win + V and could be easily accessed across any type of PC with the help of this build of Windows or higher. The technology utilized to sync the new Clipboard will be the same one that was used for Timeline and Sets.

As for Search on Window 10, it will get previews along with the facility for the users to jump into, see progress on and be able to disambiguate between files by looking for more information. Search Previews will also show up quick answers to trivial queries like “are bananas good for you?”. In the future, Microsoft has promised to deliver regular updates to Search Previews.
