More Than 20 Injured Due To Nalanda District Clashes In Bihar

Biharsharif:  More than 20 persons were injured during a religious procession in Bihar’s Nalanda district when members of two communities clashed on Wednesday over the occasion. The injured also include security personnel according to the police.

The district of Nalanda is native place for Chief Minister of Bihar, Nitish Kumar.

There have been several reports about communal clashes taking place in various districts in the state since the commencement of Ram Navami last Sunday.

“People from both sides indulged in heavy stone-pelting in Silao block of the district following a dispute over the route of a Ram Navami procession, and police had to resort to mild use of force besides firing tear gas shells to quell the mobs,” Nalanda superintendent of police, Sudhir Kumar Porika said.

Apart from that the Police officer also said that there were reports of miscreants hurling stones at the security personnel which caused injuries to a jawan of Sashastra Seema Bal. The injured was identified as the bodyguard of  a deputy superintendent of police and two other constables. Many vehicles were also damaged.

Many people involved in the rioting were also injured due to the clashes in the violence. The clashed were brought under control after sometime, a police officer said. Many senior officials, including Deputy Inspector General of Patna Range, Rajesh Kumar, and Nalanda District Magistrate, Mr Thyagarajan, were camping in the area, he added.

The injured people which included the security personnel also, were taken to the Primary Health Centre in Silao for treatment and their condition was  said to be stable, the superintendent of police said.

Clashes between the communities have erupted in many districts like Bhagalpur and Aurangabad, which triggered a political slugfest with the opposition, the RJD-Congress alliance, blaming the happenings of such incidents on the dominant power of BJP, the junior partner in the Nitish Kumar government, in the state’s bureaucratic machinery.

The police said that there have been no arrests so far and they have taken the case for investigation.

The communal politics of some parties based on Hindutva agenda, have proven to be failure factor for democracy in India. The only way for such parties to get votes is to sideline other communities by spreading hatred in the among the majority community. If they are successful in these illegal attempts, they get the simple majority votes from the majority community based on hatred politics.

There has been sharp rhetoric in the communal parties, which if flared up and reaches the general public through other platforms like Social Media, the issue gets complicated with false messages being circulated only to act as catalyst in the process to damage the law and order of the state. Good governance with positive approach to such incidents to calm down the general public can play a good role.
