Going down on your knees with a rose in hand is the most romantic way of proposing a girl for almost every guy. However, this dream proposal for a Mumbai couple turned out to be a nightmare after somebody shot their romantic act and their video went viral on the Internet.
The couple invited the wrath of local community leaders after a video of them hugging in public went viral on the internet. The boy is seen proposing to the girl in the middle of a busy road in Thane.
The incident is reported to have taken place on March 11. The guy, with his friend, drove down to the girl’s college to meet her. He stopped the car in the middle of the road and proposed his girl in an old-fashioned way with a rose in hand. His friends kept cheering him up and applauded his act.
However, leaders from the local Muslim community, including National Lokhind Party and Raza Academy, threatened to demonstrate against the young couple accusing them of indulging in actions that went against religious tenets. Both the boy and the girl belong to the Muslim community.
One of the organizations also promised to make both of them do squats in public. Shakeel Raza, secretary, Raza Academy, which forced the couple to apologize and humiliated the couple in public, said: “We only made the couple realize their mistake and asked them to apologize for whatever they did publicly.”
The president of National Lokhind Party, stated that they changed their plans and now aim to take legal action against the couple for disturbing the traffic.

Meanwhile, the girl’s family has registered a complaint with the Thane police who have assured that strict action will be taken against those harassing the couple and their family and also the person who shot their video and uploaded on the internet. Reactions to these threats the girl’s father said, “We are upset. My daughter has threatened to commit suicide if the harassment does not stop. It’s unethical of some people to react in this way over a silly mistake.”
However, the couple received support from social activists. Civic activist Satyajeet Burman demanded strict action against the one who shot the couple’s video. He stated, “Those reacting against the couple should be booked under stringent sections of the IPC and the IT Act so that henceforth no one dares to interfere in the personal life of someone else.”
The Thane Police assured strict action against the erring organizations. Manoj Patil, DCP (zone 2, Thane) stated, “Strict action would be taken against those who are threatening her and her family.”
Another senior inspector of the Bhoiwada Police Station, assured action against the one who shot the video and uploaded it on the Internet. He said, “We will also serve a notice to the president of the National Lokhind Party for calling a protest march against the couple.”
