Muslim Man Beaten To Death By Cow Vigilantes On The Allegations Of Cow Trafficking

There’s this eruption of the wild activities by the rightist political parties of India, the unprecedented deeds of the Bajrang Dal and Gau Rakshaks are raising some serious concerns about the liberalism the country needs to posess. At this moment, Rajasthani Police are investigating the death of a Muslim man at the hands of a suspected ‘cow vigilante’ group aka ‘Gau Rakshaks’.

Sources suggests that a mob of men literally attacked the three vehicles that were trafficking cows from Jaipur to Haryana. The respective footage of the attack surfaced the social media and went viral drawing the huge attention from throughout the country.

In the visuals, it is seen that a man is being pulled from a truck by an angry mob and beaten in the streets while surrounding men vandalize his truck.

Post the incident, the five men were admitted to hospital following the attack and the eldest of them, 55-year-old Pehlu Khan ended his life on Tuesday after struggling in the hospital for two days.

Sources further mention that the five men were beaten hard even though after showing the related legal documents which grant them the permission to transport the cows for their dairy farm.

“Police got information some people are smuggling cows from Jaipur and headed to Delhi,” said a senior policeman.

“Behrod police caught some trucks and some trucks escaped. These trucks were force-stopped by the public and the drivers were beaten” he added. He then said that 10 people had been arrested till now.

It is well known that cows are revered as the mother of civilisation and many worshippers equate its slaughter or eating beef as blasphemy. This rationale has seen a rise in cow vigilante groups that have been responsible for attacks peculiarly on Muslim people, who still see the animal as an affordable source of nutrition for the daily life.

In addition to this, the police also arrested the drivers of the vehicles on suspicion of cow-trafficking, the illegal activity in parts of Northern India like Rajasthan and Gujarat.

Surprisingly, the State Home Minister Gulab Chand Kataria took the mob’s side blaming the victims.

“The problem is from both sides. People know cow-trafficking is illegal but they do it. Gau Bhakts try to stop those who indulge in such crimes, however, taking law in one’s hand is wrong. Police will act against both sides” he said.

It must be noted that many Indian states already started enforcing bans on cow slaughter after Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) came to power in 2014 elections.

On the otherside, the new Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath ordered a crackdown on illegal slaughterhouses, which had led to the burning down of several meat shops in various parts of the state.

Meanwhile, in Gujarat, in PM Modi’s home state, the punishment for cow slaughter is ‘Imprisionment for lifetime’ follwoing the amendments done to the Animal Preservation Act recently.
