Upon being asked, Raigarh Municipal Corporation speaker stated that Salim has been celebrating the Hindu traditional Navratri Durga puja under the ‘Handi Chowk Durga Committee’ since 1992 to till date defining a true brotherhood between people of other religions. Along with the celebrations it is being reported that Salim has supported lives of many other his associates following Islam to work as artists and ‘karigars’ in the Durga Puja every year.
When asked about his ideas on Muslims taking part in Durga Puja celebrations, Salim says “Peace and harmony of this locality is an example to the nation. Both Muslim and Hindu communities take part in each other’s festivals with full enthusiasm.” How often do we come across people with such noble thoughts?
