As each and every Indian is celebrating the moments of Sakshi Malik and PV Sindhu winning medals for the country, this 20-year-old national-level handball player committed suicide in Patiala.
Pooja, 20, is a second-year BA student of General Shivdev Singh Diwan Gurbachan Singh Khalsa College in Patiala, Punjab. She is a national-level handball player which accordingly brought her under the radar for getting free hostel facilities.
She was seen hanging in her room on August 21st morning and was immediately taken to the hospital. But it was too late as she was declared dead. Pooja had written a suicide note and it was addressed to Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
Pooja’s father is a vegetable vendor and he handed over the suicide note to the police. The suicide note is addressed to PM Modi in blood. In the suicide note addressed to Narendra Modi, Pooja wrote that she came from a poor background and thus could not afford the hostel facility and travel expenses.
Pooja Urges Modi:
Pooja also urged PM Modi that “underprivileged girls like me should be provided free education facility.” Pooja was given admission last year, she was promised free hostel facility and food. But this year she wasn’t given the permission to stay in the hostel.
