A new law has been approved in the New York State of the USA. Now, people in the state are allowed to be buried with their pets.

Before, people who wanted to be buried with their pets did not have a lot of options. Animal burial was not allowed in cemeteries.

But thanks to the new law, you and your pet could be buried together in a human cemetery without needing any special permission from the cemetery or the government.

The new law is not limited to cats or dogs, you can get buried with your pet.

But this does not mean that you can choose any cemetery and bury your animal there. The new law has exemptions.

Religious cemeteries do not have to comply with this new law, and individual cemeteries can still choose to refuse to bury pets.

Governor Andrew M. Cuomo signed the Legislation.

The law will allow New Yorkers to be buried with their pets at non-for-profit cemeteries.

In a statement that was released by Governor Cuomo, he said, “For many New Yorkers, their pets are members of the family. This legislation will roll back this unnecessary regulation and give cemeteries the option to honor the last wishes of pet lovers across New York.”

Senator Michael H. Ranzenhofer was really happy with the new law.

Senator Ranzenhofer released a statement, he said, “For years now, New Yorkers have desired to have their pets interred in their grave, and cemeteries will now be able to offer this burial option as a result of this new law. I am pleased that Governor Cuomo has signed it into law.”

A press release said that cemeteries in New York should provide customers with a list of charges for the pet burial.

Cemeteries are also required to place all the payments for the burial in its permanent maintenance fund.

Great news for all animal lovers in New York!
