Next Gen Honda CR-V To Be In The Market This Festive Season

We witnessed the first new-generation Honda CR-V at the Auto Expo 2018 and as per the reports, the SUV was expected to be launched sometime in FY 2018-19. While the company is still undecided regarding the date or month for the launch, but according to sources from the company, it is confirmed that the fifth-generation Honda CR-V will be launched during this festive season which will be around September and October. But as of now, we expect the new Honda CR-V to be put on sale in India before this year’s Diwali and the occasion will also help the company cash in on the festive mood.

In other global markets, the fifth-gen Honda CR-V is already on sale and is all set to arrive in India too. The 2018 model, if launched, will also be the first CR-V to be launched in India with a 3 rows of seating option, which conveys the meaning that it will offer a seating capacity for 7 passengers, competing with the likes of the Isuzu MU-X, Skoda Kodiaq, Toyota Fortuner, Ford Endeavour and even the Volkswagen Tiguan. The to-be-launched Honda CR-V is based on a new platform taken from the Civic and has grown in terms of dimensions. The SUV car is, as per the design, 30 mm longer and 35mm wider and taller, and the wheelbase has an increased version by about 40 mm, so it comes with three-row seating, availing the cabin a lot more space than before.

As per its looks, the Honda CR-V is much sharper and angular in terms of design and seems to be pretty sleek. Up front, the CR-V has a thick chrome bar for the grille and is a signature for a Honda is concerned and its flanked by LED headlights and complemented by the fog lamps of LED. The interior quality has also got a revamp and is availed with premium quality material for upholstery, panels and in-car controls. The dashboard is attached with a 7-inch touchscreen display with a navigation system developed with Garmin. The system has also got an Apple CarPlay and Android Auto to enable smartphone connectivity. These all features make it a more contemporary one.

The model of 2018 will also become the first CR-V to come with a diesel powertrain – a new 1.6 litre i DTEC diesel engine which has got enough power to unleash about 120 horses and will develop 300 Nm of peak torque. On the other side, the petrol version will get a naturally aspirated 2.4 litre, four cylinder engine making upto 184 bhp. After the launch, the 2018 Honda CR-V SUV is expected to be sold at a price ranging from Rs. 26 lakh to Rs. 30 lakh.
