Recently, Nitish Rana, a player of Kolkata Night Riders made a brilliant performance in their first match against Royal Challengers Bangalore. He not only showed his skill with the bat but also with his bowling where he had taken two big wickets of AB Devillers and Virat Kohli who were seen in their best form and started hitting some boundaries. Naturally, the youngster got excited and hurled a abuse on Virat Kohli’s dismissal.
Nitish shouted “Bhench*d” and everyone got shocked hearing the same as Virat can get furious in no time. But it was Virat’s reaction which won a million hearts, he went to the dugout silently without abusing Rana back. Virat also made a sweet gesture by gifting his bat to the youngster who took his wicket and proved that cricket is truly a gentleman’s game. Nitish took it to Instagram to express his happiness over Virat’s gesture towards him and wrote,
“When you are appreciated by one of the greats of the game, you know you are doing something right. Thanks for this bat, @virat.kohli Bhaiya this was just the encouragement I needed. #blessed 🙏🏻”
To be honest, Kohli could have snapped back at the youngster as Virat gets very emotional on the field but he chose to deal with it in a dignified way as he had been in Nitish’s place many times before while playing for Indian cricket team. After becoming the captain of Indian cricket team, Virat gained control on his anger and emotions and is showing his responsible side to the fans.
Well, this sensible gesture of Virat is being appreciated by everyone and we need more of such generous gestures by senior cricketers to appreciate the young talent which will increase their confidence.
