Now Hold Your Pizza Tight If You’re In Noida, City Becomes Hub For Pizza Thieves

This Delhi’s shoulder like city- Noida, is well known for its infrastructure and for being a crucial software hub for the country. But, there exists an another shady side for being the city in which most number of chains, mobile phones, and bags snatching cases were registered.

Despite the above popular features, the city now earned a ridiculous badge for Pizza thefts. Yes! you read it right! Multiple cases were registered throughout the city. If all the cases were considered together, then the average pizza theft cases will be around two to three per week. Altogether, 8-10 such incidents happen in the city every month. “It’s not as if they steal only one pizza when they rob you.

When asked about the thefts, Ramesh, a Dominos delivery boy said, “It’s not as if they steal only one pizza when they rob you. Saare le jaate hain jitney ho aapke paas (they take all the pizzas that you’re carrying). Normally, a delivery boy carries 4-5 pizzas when out for delivery.

The recent robbery took place on 6th January, when Rajnish, a pizza delivery boy, was robbed in Sector 58 when he was looking for the delivery address. Luckily for him, a PCR van was in the vicinity and the mobile thieves were caught within 15 minutes.

Rather the pizza delivery boys nor the managers ever complained about the issue because the only thing that was stolen is Pizza. The situation alarmed the city when the number of thefts rose rapidly.

We make a written complaint about it, but most times, no FIR is filed. A written complaint is required because we have to document stolen pizzas, and report it to our superiors. Par FIR ka jhanjhat kaun lega? Pizza hi toh hai. (But who would go through so much hassle? It’s only pizza.)”, a manager at a Dominos restaurant in Noida said.

Despite the frequent cases, the delivery boys often don’t step forward to file any complaints as they’re scared of letting themselves into a bad conduct.

A pizza delivery boy in Sector 18 said, “Initially, it seemed funny, but when the incidents started happening more regularly, it became ridiculous.”

Even the police, acknowledging that such crimes do occur, say they cannot investigate if the cases aren’t even being reported. “Yes, we have heard of the odd cases of delivery boys being robbed in the city, but we can’t take action or investigate if the cases aren’t being reported,” says a senior police official.

So, people! if there is any delay in your pizza delivery, you can now expect who has your pizza.
