After the demonetization move, Modi government has issued some exemptions keeping public inconvenience in mind. It waived the collection of Toll taxes on highways as well. To ensure smooth traffic flow and reduce currency hardships, the government had announced on November 24 that it has further extended the date for toll exemption on national highways until midnight of December 2.
Now here is one more shock to the citizens. The government has cut short the deadline of using old Rs 500 notes at petrol pumps and for buying airline tickets at airports till December 2 instead of December 15 announced earlier.

With effect from December 3, 2016, old Rs 500 notes cannot be used for the purchase of petrol, diesel and gas at the stations operating under authorization of public sector oil marketing companies and for buying airline tickets at airport counters, a government notification said.
Also, the government has dropped its earlier announced plan to allow the use of Rs. 500 notes for payment of toll at national highways from December 3. However, a positive note is that as per the sources government is planning for introducing sufficient swipe machines at toll booths with help from SBI and other banks in order to facilitate payments and easy flow of traffic.
From December 3, fuel purchase, airline ticket booking at airport counters and highway toll payment would be allowed only in lower denomination currency or the new 500 and 2,000 rupee notes.
So my dear friends, please carry enough change before hitting highways. Because the luxury of using highways for free after demonetization has come to an end. However, you can make payments through card as well.
