Padmavati’s Name Has Been Changed, CBFC Passed It With 26 Cuts, Twitter Is Trolling The New Title

Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s directorial has been on the radar of Rajput communities, fringe outfits, and political parties, but the period drama has found support in Bollywood. With Padmavati row getting difficult by the day, the latest news suggests a delay in the release of the film.

With Padmavati row getting difficult by the day, it was already observed that the movie’s release date which was assumed to be December 1st is long way gone. Padmavati has been facing constant opposition in the form of violence and threats from members of Rajput Karni Sena ever since they disrupted the shoot of the film in Jaipur earlier this year.

The release has been deferred until further notice. Bollywood’s silence over the Padmavati controversy during the last few months has been telling. Most of the film industry’s actors and filmmakers have chosen to not comment about the protests and ridiculous demand to ban the film.

Now, there is a good news for the team of Padmavati as the movie has been passed by CBFC with U/A certificate. it means that the flick can be watched by all age groups but children under the age of 12 can watch it under the parental guidance only. However, there are a few changes to the title and it will be released as ‘Padmavat’.

Apart from the name change, the censor board has also told the makers to make 26 cuts and disclaimers will be shown before the start of the film and after the interval too. This states that the movie is a work of fiction and has no connection with any historical figure.

The movie has become a center of controversies since its shooting started and not just the sets were damaged but the director Sanjay Leela Bhansali was also manhandled. In some way, the shooting was completed but as the release date (Dec 1) came near, protests by the Rajput Karni Sena increased highly.

They also claimed that there is a romantic dream sequence between Rani Padmavati and Allauddin Khilji. Even prize was announced on the heads of Sanjay Leela Bhansali and Deepika Padukone and one Rajput leader warned Deepika of chopping her nose if she didn’t stop talking in support of the film.

The movie was also shown to historians from Jaipur by the CBFC before passing it. Ranveer Singh and Shahid Kapoor also play the lead roles in the movie. However, it doesn’t mean that the problems of the makers have ended as the leaders of Rajput Karni Sena have told that they won’t let the film release at any cost.

But the good part is that at least one hurdle has been crossed by the makers of Padmavati. So, let’s see what happens on its release. What do you say about the change in the name and the cuts? Share your views with us in the comments section below.
