The relation between India and Pakistan since few months is not going well. Pakistan attempting terror attacks on Indian Army at Uri headquarters resulted in big controversy between the two countries.
Amid Indo-Pak tension, Pakistan’s Electronic Media Regulatory Authority (PEMRA) on Wednesday decided to enforce a complete ban on Indian TV and radio contents from Friday. It had also warned that the licenses of those found guilty of violating the ban will be suspended.
Following the announcement by the Pakistan’s media regulatory authority, they are going to ban airing of Indian content from October 21 at the request of the federal government.
“The ban will come into effect at 3 PM on October 21, and radio and television stations which violate the ban will have their licenses suspended without a prior show causes notice,” PEMRA said.
The authority also decided to cancel one-sided rights given to Indian media by the government of Pervez Musharraf in 2006. The authority has earlier decided to get tough with Indian contents after complaints that most of the local channels were using more than 5% foreign content as allowed by it.
A strict action would be taken against the channels airing foreign content more than the prescribed limit and traders selling illegal DTH sets. The decision was implemented by PEMRA from October 16 that launched a crackdown on those channels using foreign contents illegally.
