Para Asian Games 2018: Nitesh Kumar, IIT Mandi Student To Represent The Nation – For over forty-two nations, Asian Para Games will soon begin amid organising Asian Games. 6th October 2018 and 13th October 2018 respectively are an opening ceremony and closing ceremony dates. Jakarta city of Indonesia is the host city while the main venue of the same is Gelora Bung Karno Main Stadium.
But why you all need to know that? It’s all because if you’re a student of the Indian Institute of Technology (better from Roorkee or Mandi) you will fee more proud in comparison to other Indians. As 23-year-old Nitesh Kumar who is a professional para shuttler moving over his 2009 accident will represent India in upcoming Para Asian Games 2018.
At the above-mentioned venue, swimming, archery, wheelchair basketball, lawn bowls, opening and closing ceremonies, athletics, badminton, shooting and sitting volleyball events will be organised. Similarly, Chess and Judo at Central Jakarta and Cycling and wheelchair fencing in East Jakarta; Table tennis, bowling, wheelchair tennis, boccia in North Jakarta, Goalball and Powerlifting in south Jakarta and at last cycling (road race) at Jakarta Suburb.
Speaking into the matter, Indian Para-Badminton Team (Para Asian Games 2018) Head National Coach Shri Gaurav Khanna said that “Many youngsters with physical, vision and intellectual disabilities who have a spark for sports do not know how to pursue their passion and the sole reason is lack of awareness. Also, for para-athlete,s there are no renowned practice spaces like Gopichand Academy to make a one-spot hub to nurture talent and skills.”
