Traffic rules are set for the welfare of the general public. Due to the levy of fines in an electronic manner, people started to follow rules as now they can’t bribe the traffic police. But there are still some people who aren’t following these rules and instead of levying the fines, Chennai’s traffic police took the law into their hands and started beating a man mercilessly because the man objected the foul language used by the traffic police.
Prakash, 21 had gone for shopping along with his mother and sister on a scooter at T Hub, which is in the heart of Chennai. The policemen stopped them as Prakash didn’t wear a helmet. Prakash who works as a cab driver was seen arguing with the policemen for stopping his scooter in an ill manner and refused to pay fine for the same. During the argument, he accidentally brushed his hand on epaulette (one of the stars) of a policeman and it fell down.
Seeing this the policeman fumed in anger and with the help of three other traffic police started thrashing Prakash. One of the policemen was seen holding him to the electricity pole while the two of them were thrashing Prakash while his mother was wailing loudly and asking them to stop.

But none of them paid heed towards the lady and continued to beat him. This video went viral in the social media which caused a huge uproar among the public seeing the behaviour of the traffic police.
Seeing the uproar, Chennai police came up with an official statement revealing the details of the incident.
“When Prakash was asked to pay fine, he behaved in a rude manner and began to shout in the middle of the road. He also punched on the face of sub-inspector Suresh and damaged the walkie-talkie device used by the personnel. He was overpowered immediately and was arrested,” the statement said.
