When Emily was presented to the court, she said that she regrets what she did and understood that it was wrong.

During the sentencing of Emily, Judge Niclas Parry said, “Everything about this case is so, so wrong. One can only hope that the sentence of eight years imprisonment would have been some comfort to the family of Mr. Bratin [McGee’s victim].

The Judge added, “Therefore it is difficult to imagine the feel of betrayal they must have felt at finding out that he was able to have free access to an iPhone in prison and conduct a sexual relationship from his prison cell. This quite reprehensible behavior was willingly entered into for nothing other than thrill-seeking and personal gratification, having been flattered.”

Inmate John McGee has also been handed to serve 12 months in jail on top of his current sentence.
