Animal activists in the Romanian city of Iasi have released shocking photos after a group of puppies were reportedly found stuck to the ground and covered in hot tar. Lying helpless under the sweltering sun they were taken in a critical condition to a vet in the city of Iasi, in north-eastern Romania.
Animal activists believe this is a case of sick animal torture because it is the second case of puppies in the city being found covered in tar.
Veterinarian Sorin Puiu, who is treating the puppies, said that the dogs were brought in a critical condition but are currently doing better. He added, “One of them had a particularly tough time. He had his left eye, his nose and his mouth all covered in tar. We could really use some kind of animal police institution right now.”
The puppies are currently at the clinic where they will stay under observation for at least a week. They will then be given up for adoption. Animal welfare is an issue in Romania. UK-registered Paws2Rescue charity said tortured or starving dogs are discovered every day on the streets of Romania.
