Reliance Jio is about to enter broadband services, as the company will begin process for its Jio GigaFiber broadband services on August 15, helping the public to come one step closer to access to its high speed network. During the RIL AGM held last month, India’s top richest man Mukesh Ambani had said that the Jio GigaFiber service will start delivering services that will allow the users to download at speeds more than 1Gbps to all its users. As of now, the service will be started only in 1,100 cities and will not be a pan-India initiative like the earlier company’s telecom venture in which it launched Jio mobile internet services two years ago. The broadband service has been in testing mode since the year of 2016 in a small number of cities with users reporting speeds of more than 700Mbps. If you want to subscribe to the service provided by Jio broadband GigaFiber, we give you here some important points that you should know about it.
Jio GigaFiber broadband registration process
The registrations for Jio GigaFiber will begin on August 15 but it will be just registrations that is you will not get the service immediately right away after you show your interest with an exception to those areas where it has already rolled out its service. Instead the company will look into the demand for its service from all locations and will start the operations in those areas with the most demand for tis high-speed broadband network. In his AGM speech, Ambani said “we will prioritise our Jio GigaFiber rollout to those localities from where we receive the highest number of registrations.”
You can register for the service request using Jio GigaFiber from the MyJio app and Jio.com website too. While registering for Jio Phone the company asked for refundable amount but for this service, users interested in the broadband network will not have to pay any type of sum while registering their interest.
Broadband plans by Jio GigaFiber
There has been no official announcement about the Jio GigaFiber plans as of now, but consumers are required to pay a Rs. 4,500 refundable sum for the router for such areas where the service is already available. The service will be available for free for the first three months as was the same case with the Jio telecom network in the year 2016. As of now, there are no plans, but it is widely expected that Jio will introduce few plans when its starts in 1,100 cities. The plans may include a free ties to introduce broadband to users who have not used such service till now along with paid tiers with high data download allocations.
GigaFober installation by Jio
The company will install a Jio GigaRouter at your office or home to set up the Jio GigaFiber network. The router will serve “wall-to-wall high speed Wi-Fi coverage” – the company during its presentation claimed 1Gbps download speed and 100Mbps upload speed.
