Shujaat Saudagar’s musical drama ‘Rock On 2,’ which stars Farhan Akhtar, Shraddha Kapoor, in lead roles, has failed to draw the audience to the theaters. The film that released on Friday, November 11, in theaters had to bear the brunt of the lack of cash in people’s hands after the notes ban.
The poor response to the movie can be attributed to the mixed reviews, but the demonetization of Rs. 500 and Rs. 1000 notes by the Modi government is also a major reason behind the film’s failure at the box-office.

Rock On 2 Box Office Collections:
Even though the makers had employed several online paying facilities, anticipating the movie to be affected by the demonetization drive, they don’t seem to have lured the audience. The film’s day 2 earning also did not witness much growth at the Indian box office.
Rock On 2 First Weekend Collections:
Rock On 2 released on Friday, and collected only Rs 2.02 crores on the first day and followed it up with Rs 2.5 crore on Saturday.
Government’s decision to demonetize Rs. 500 and Rs 1000 notes have had an adverse effect on the box office collections of Rock On 2.
Ritesh Sidhwani producer of Rock On 2 said: “People are busy queueing up outside the banks and even if they are able to get the new Rs. 2000 note they are not able to get the change for it which is affecting the overall collection of the film. If we had any clue about the decision we would have definitely pushed the release date.”
Demonetisation coupled with a poor script has surely made a dent in film’s box office collections.
