While Indo-Pak relations are at an all-time low, Salman Khan has now come forward to speak in support of Pakistani actors working in Indian and has bashed the call for banning them.
Bollywood superstar Salman Khan says artistes from Pakistan should not be treated like terrorists and art and terrorism should not be mixed.
His comments are in response to the Indian Motion Picture Producers Association resolution, passed yesterday, which banned Pakistani actors from the Indian film industry in the wake of the militant attack on Uri.
“Pakistani artistes are just artists and not terrorists. Terrorism and art are two different subjects,” Salman said when asked about his take on banning the actors from Pakistan.
However, when talking about the surgical strike carried out by the Indian Army across the Line of Control (LoC) on Thursday, the Bollywood icon stated that it was an apt reaction to the neighboring country’s action in Uri that killed 19 innocent Indian soldiers.
Though the ‘Dagang’ star emphasized the importance of prevalence of peace in the society, he cited Army’s action of rooting out terrorists from PoK, proper, and much requisite.

“Ideal situation should have been that of peace. But, now a reaction to an action has happened. It was a proper action as they were terrorists. But still, in this day and age, I think if we lived in peace and harmony it would have been better for everyone and especially for common people,” he said while speaking at the launch of his jewellery range for Being Human.

Last week, Raj Thackeray-led MNS issued an ultimatum to Pakistani artistes and actors including Fawad Khan, who is part of one of the productions under Salman’s banner, and Ali Zafar, to leave India by September 25 or else they would be “pushed out”.
Recently concerts of Pakistani singers Shafqat Amanat Ali and Atif Aslam, scheduled in Bengaluru and Gurgaon, respectively were also cancelled.
