Sasikala Visits Jayalalithaa Memorial And Took A Promising Oath On Her Way To Bengaluru Court

Amid a sea of supporters and media people, VK Sasikala has left her Poes Gardens residence and visited Jayalalithaa’s memorial. She pays tribute to late Jayalalithaa in Chennai Marina beach before heading to Bengaluru court.

The Supreme Court on Wednesday turned down AIADMK general secretary VK Sasikala Natarajan’s request seeking more time to surrender, after it convicted her in a Disproportionate Assets (DA) case. Due to the conviction order, she will not be able to contest any polls six years from the date of her release from prison.

“We do not intend to pass any order on this. We are not going to change anything in the judgement,” the Supreme Court observed after a request for extension of time by Sasikala’s lawyer.

Sasikala is expected to surrender before a Bengaluru court today, and left her Poes Garden residence in Chennai at noon, to reach Bengaluru. However, before leaving for Bengaluru, Sasikala visited Jayalalithaa’s memorial, paid a floral tribute to the late leader, and sought blessings. Sasikala breaks down at Jayalalithaa memorial.

A bench headed by Justice Pinaki Chandra Ghose declined the plea as senior counsel K.T.S. Tulsi mentioned it before the court. Sasikala, who appointed loyalist E Palanisamy to the post of Legislature Party leader on Tuesday, on Wednesday named her nephew Dinakaran as the deputy general secretary.

She expected to surrender at the Parappana Agrahara jail in Bengaluru by evening where she and Jayalalithaa were incarcerated in 2014 when they were convicted by a special court in the disproportionate assets case.
