Saudi Arabia King Salman bin Abdulaziz landed in Moscow on Wednesday for a historic State visit. But as soon as he came out of his private plane, he faced a problem. The king made a decision which is big before he even landed on Russia soil.
Just as the Saudi king arrived in Moscow, when he was deboarding from his private jet, the golden escalator he used to get down malfunctioned and stopped midway on its descent. Salman and his retinue looked on in confusion for several moments before the 81-year-old king began to descend the staircase step by step.
According to the reports, the Gulf Kingdom leader brought an entourage of 1,500 people, a golden escalator and his own carpets on the four-day visit to Russia.
A plane carrying supplies and food was flying between Riyadh and Moscow daily, and the Saudi government has booked two entire luxury hotels for their visit, the report said.
A video circulating online showed the Saudi king walking down the steps after the escalator halted.

The Saudi king is in Russia to discuss the global oil market and Syrian crisis with Russian President Vladimir Putin. Luckily for the Saudi leader, those meetings appear to be moving better than his escalator, as he and Putin agreed on Thursday to a deal for Russia’s advanced S-400 missile defense system.
President Vladimir Putin and the Saudi leader also signed a slew of arms and energy deals on Thursday as the key US ally seeks to deepen cooperation with Moscow. The leaders of the world’s largest energy exporters discussed an extension of an OPEC agreement to cap oil output and oversaw the signing of deals which officials said were worth billions of dollars.
