After Selfie Comment, Shobhaa De Trolled Again. This Time For Commenting On PV Sindhu

Indian shuttler PV Sindhu’s win in women’s singles in Badminton, after defeating Japan’s Nozomi Okuhara at Rio Olympics 2016 on Thursday night, has guaranteed India a first Olympic silver medal.

The World No. 10 from Hyderabad will next take on two-time World Champion Carolina Marin from Spain in the summit clash on Friday. Sindhu made her way into the semis by defeating world number two Wang Yihan of China in the quarter-finals. Sindhu became India’s first ever shuttler to reach the final of this sport in Olympics. While Twitter was abuzz with congratulatory messages for Sindhu for her stellar performance, Bollywood legend Amitabh Bachchan’s tweet clearly stood out.

While our athletes have made us more than proud, a few days ago, the columnist Shobhaa De had mocked the Indian Olympians at Rio and stated that the athletes went to Rio just to “take selfies” and would return “empty-handed”.

Amitabh Bachchan, who is an avid sports fan and has been encouraging the Indian contingent through his tweets and blogs, lauded the shuttler and had an apt response to Shobhaa De’s tweet.

After selfie comment, She was once again in the line of fire on Twitter for one of her tweets on PV Sindhu’s win against Japanese N Okuhara in the Olympics semi-finals.

Here’s Shobhaa De’s Tweet on PV Sindhu:

Twitterati slams Shobhaa De again for her comment on PV Sindhu:

We can never tell if the dig was unintentional but it was a well-deserved one for sure! Meanwhile, B-Town went berserk after Sindhu’s victory. Shah Rukh and Aamir Khan also congratulated Sindhu on her win.
