State’s First Sports Injury Centre Will be Open In Bengaluru Soon

The new sports injury centre in Bengaluru at Sanjay Gandhi Institute Of Trauma & Orthopaedics Centre in Byrasandra. This would be the second one in the country after Safdarjung Hospital, Delhi. Karnataka Athletics Association (KAA) President and State Congress President G Parameshwara said this centre will be the first of its kind in the State and second in the country. He also said, 200 AFI certified officials have already reached the city.

The work was almost complete, we are planning to invite an achiever in the field of sports to inaugurate it,” Khader said. Dr Madan Ballal, specialist in sports injuries and arthroscopy, said in this center we mainly focus on arthroscopic surgery that requires minimal incision. This helps the sports persons to recover soon and go back to their respective event in full health within a short period.

At present they have three sports injury specialists and two physiotherapists. There will be more specialist added in future and so the facilities. All type of sports injuries, dislocations, knee ligament injuries, sprains, strains and other ailments will be taken care of at the center. They have spent more than Rs 6 crore to treat the injured cricketers, athletes, footballers, tennis players with good infrastructure. This also headed by plastic surgeon Dr B G Tilak, the centre will house specialists in sports injuries and physiotherapy.
