Strangers Come to Meet Newborn After Text-Message Mix-Up

A Florida couple – Lindsey and Mark Lashley were at Tampa’s Bainbridge Hospital welcoming a new baby, when the baby’s grandmother, Teresa Lashley, sent out a group text message announcing the birth. After sometime, the couple received a surprise visit at the hospital from two complete strangers who were mistakenly included in a group text message.

Dennis Williams, whose number was accidentally included in the group text, received texts about a newborn from complete strangers. “We are at the hospital. Having a baby today! She has dilated to between 5-6,” the message read.

Dennis congratulated the family and then let the sender know he was not the person they were trying to reach. “Congrats lol but I think someone got the wrong number,” he replied.

Then a second text from Lashley came through, this one with a picture of a woman holding the newborn, along with the caption, “7 lbs. 11 oz.” Dennis then offered to show up at the hospital to take a picture with the newborn. He wrote, “Well I don’t know Yall but me and the boys will be thru to take a picture with the baby.”

Dennis and his brother, Deorick, bought some gifts and went to the hospital to congratulate the new parents in person. The brothers ended up taking a picture along with the mother, the father, and baby Cason.

Lashley was sincerely touched by the unexpected “wrong number” connection. She then took to Facebook to talk about the wonderful surprise.

“I accidentally text a message about Mark and Lindsey having a baby to a number I had in my phone for someone else which now belongs to Mr. Dennis Williams and he and his brother came by to visit us and bought the baby a gift!  What a blessing these two guys were to our family.  They were so sweet and kind to do this! You 2 are great guys and thank you for giving to someone you didn’t know! Many blessing I pray for you.”

The March 19 post has touched hearts across the country. Deorick posted screenshots of the texts and the family’s Facebook post on his personal Facebook page. His post has since gone viral, receiving tens of thousands of likes and shares (more than 167,000 shares).
