What do you do when you get a salary hike? You will be very happy and thankful to your boss, right! But, have you ever thought of doing anything to express your thankfulness to your boss?
People have different ways of saying thank you. Some do it simply by saying the words, others can do it with a gesture. But the employees at Gravity Payments decided to go one step ahead. To express their thankfulness to their CEO, they saved up for months and gifted him his dream car.
Dan Price, the CEO of financial service Gravity Payments gave all his 120 employees a huge wage hike – a minimum of $70,000 a year. And to facilitate this raise, he also cut down his own salary from $1.1 million to $70,000.
To express their gratitude, the employees of the company decided to surprise their boss by gifting him with a brand new car – A Tesla Model S. They saved their one month’s salary to buy the gift, of which the starting price is $70,000.
The news was broken by Dan Price himself on his Facebook page.
Gravity Payments also uploaded a video showing the reaction of the CEO when he discovered what his employees had done for him.
However, according to a Bloomberg report, Price made this unusual move to avoid a lawsuit by his brother and Gravity co-founder Lucas Price, which accused Dan of violating Lucas’ rights as a minority shareholder by paying himself too much and charging personal expenses to a corporate card.
Whatever Price’s motives, the employees were surely thrilled with their boss’ decision to grant them such big raises and showed their appreciation in a big way.
