This Kanpur Couple Called Off Their Marriage Because Of A Fight Over PM Modi

In a rather bizarre case, a young couple from Kanpur, all set to get hitched, called off their marriage because they shared a difference of opinion over Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

According to TOI, a Kanpur businessman was about to get married to a woman who was working in the government sector. Everything was almost fixed, the only thing left to seal the deal was to decide about how they would split the expenses of the marriage ceremony. Both the families decided to meet at a temple so that they can finalise everything and can start with the preparations.

Everything was going smoothly between them until one of them initiated to talk about the subject of India’s present economic condition, reported TOI.

The bride-to-be, who is a government employee, held Prime Minister Narendra Modi responsible for India’s poor economic condition. She said that Narendra Modi has done nothing for improving the poor economic condition of the country. But the groom-to-be, who seemed to be a Modi supporter, thinks otherwise and disagreed with her.

This lead to a heated argument and the potential bride and groom decided to call their marriage off and notify their respective families about the same. Their decision of calling off their marriage was very shocking for their families as they were looking forward to the marriage. They did try to resolve issues but the two did not agree to marry each other.

We think that of all the things in the world, this has got to be the best worst reason to call off a wedding.

Meanwhile, a news website reported: The woman told her friends that the prospective groom was ‘almost obsessed’ with Mr Narendra Modi and would not hear a single word against him. “If I am not free to have my opinion, how can I spend my life in such an atmosphere”, she told her friends. The man, however, who refused to comment on the issue said that the marriage was called off due to ‘irreconcilable differences’.
