Vrushali Bamane, a 29-year-old woman who passed 12th standard is working as an Assistant Accountant in a Private Company. Her salary is Rs. 18,000 per month. The shocking fact about the woman who worked in Mahalaxmi Rope Works in Fort as an assistant accountant has never learnt accounting.
Vrushali is so clever that she has committed a fraud of nearly Rs 16 crore. She has also added wealth and properties in the names of her family members and herself. However, the Police got to know about Vrushali’s assets. Police arrested her last month.
“We were expecting to find the money hidden in an account or somewhere else, but were shocked by the way she utilised the money to build up all these properties,” said Police Officer. During the investigation, the Police came to know that Vrushali started stealing of funds from the company she works and transferred money to the accounts of her family members.
Later, with the money, Vrushali constructed a bungalow worth 5 crores in Karad. She has bought 3 luxurious apartments and two flats in Dombivli worth Rs. 50-60 lakhs. She also owns many cars and bikes registered with 3777 numbers, gold and silver jewellery, expensive watches and cash, totally worth over Rs 18 lakh.
Vrushali has appealed for bail but police have opposed it and booked her under section 408 (criminal breach of trust) of Indian Penal Code.
