The US police arrested a man that was the culprit of causing $30,000 worth of damage by driving through wet concrete.
The incident reportedly happened in Portland, Oregon, on Valentine’s Day.
On Tuesday this week, the police arrested Richard Reed, a 28-year-old.
Reed was transported to the Multnomah County Detention Center on charges of criminal mischief and reckless driving.
In the video, the man can be seen driving a white pick-up truck towards the fresh concrete before slowing down briefly as it approaches the perimeter, which is cordoned off with tape, cones, and fencing.
After a short hesitation, the vehicle can be seen accelerating through the roadblocks and can be seen skidding through the concrete.
The act of Reed left deep track marks behind.
Mike Frome, an assistant chief, released a statement about the incident.
Frome said, “This in an egregious case of public property damage and I want to thank Central Precinct Officer Peter Braun for his efforts in identifying and capturing the individual responsible.”
Amy Koski, a local resident, said the driving was shocking, even by the poor standards in the area.
During an interview with KOIN, a local news agency in Portland, Amy said, “The drivers drive around you on the left-hand side, they zoom up and down 40 or 50 miles an hour. And all of our neighbours, we call every day and we call 911 when there’s reckless drivers, and (the police) just never show up.”
Hilarious or not, the man should have been capable of seeing the block on the road.
