Superstar Mahesh Babu, who adopted his ancestral village in Andhra Pradesh’s Guntur district, has visited Burripalem, along with his brother-in-law and Guntur MP Galla Jayadev on Sunday.
Along with Galla Jayadev and Tenali MLA Alapati Rajendra Prasad, Mahesh laid the foundation stone at his adopted village for developmental works. The total spending on the project is about Rs 2.16 crore.“My grandmother and father (superstar Krishna) did their bit for the development of the village. Now, I want to take it forward. This is a great opportunity for me,” Mahesh said on the occasion.

Mahesh adopted Burripalem, under the ‘Smart Village – Smart Ward’ programme launched by the AP government. Mahesh’s recent flick Srimanthudu propagated the theme ‘giving back to the society’ and it’s in this spirit that he chose to adopt Burripalem.
Mahesh also expressed a desire to develop Burripalem as a model health and education village in such a way that it becomes a role model for rural areas across the state. “Free medical camps will be set up once in two months to help health staff monitor the condition of woman and children in this village,” the actor assured.
