After Dera Baba Gurmeet Ram Rahim Singh’s arrest and sentenced 20 years in jail, there raised a question in the Gurmeet team that who is the next chief of Dera Sacha Sauda?
The answer is Honeypreet Insan. She is the adopted daughter of Gurmeet Ram Rahim Singh. She dearly quotes herself as ‘Papa’s Angel’ and is extremely close to Gurmeet Ram Rahim. Ever since she has joined Dera Sacha Sauda, her popularity and power have been immense. She handles a lot of tasks related to Dera Suda.
So, along with Ram Rahim, his alleged daughter has equally been in the news since the conviction. Honeypreet has absconded since her father’s arrest. She was last seen on the day of the verdict. Police had been searching for her from the day her father was sentenced 20 years jail.
Gurmeet Ram Rahim Singh’s ‘adopted daughter’ is accused of inciting violence after the Dera Sacha Sauda chief was convicted in twin rape cases on August 25. The violence following his conviction had left 40 dead. Honeypreet faces charges of sedition and inciting violence.
However, Honeypreet Insan has finally been traced. But it was not the police. A special team formed by the Haryana Police failed to locate Honeypreet, a television news channel managed to get to her. However, in an interview with India Today, Honeypreet alias Priyanka Taneja rubbished the allegations.
“You have seen the whole situation. How am I guilty? I just did what a daughter is meant to do. I have not spoken to anyone. How am I involved in riots? We went to the court believing that everything would be fine and we would be back in the evening. But the outcome was devastating and the verdict was against us. How can we conspire in such a situation,” Honeypreet said.
For 38 days, Honeypreet easily managed to dupe the police of three states. Some reports even suggested that she had sneaked out of the country and was spotted in Nepal. It is hard to comprehend how she successfully evaded arrest despite there being lookout notices and non-bailable warrants issued against her.
Her sudden appearance in media raises several questions over the way the state police has been handling the case. While it is for the authorities to answer how Honeypreet deceived them, here’s a look at her journey from August 25 to October 3.
- Following Ram Rahim’s conviction on August 25, Honeypreet accompanied her ‘papa’ in a helicopter to Rohtak jail from Panchkula. She stayed at a guest house in Rohtak at night.
- The next day she reached Dera headquarters in Sirsa where Honeypreet met chairperson Vipassana Insan. She spent the night at Dera headquarters. Honeypreet left the Dera in the morning without informing anyone.
- From Sirsa, Honeypreet reached her brother-in-law’s house in Hanumangarh Rajasthan. She spent the next two (August 27, 28) days here.
- Honeypreet left Hanumangarh just before police reached there looking for her on August 29.
- She stayed at a Dera follower’s house in Rajasthan’s Sangaria on August 30.
- On September 2, reports of her being spotted in Udaipur brought the police to a shopping mall in the city. However, the police again returned empty-handed.
- Soon, reports about Honeypreet’s presence in Nepal flashed in the media. But the police failed to find her in the Himalayan country as well.
- The police later tracked her to Ram Rahim’s native village Gurusar Modia in Rajasthan.
- On September 25, Honeypreet met her lawyer in Delhi’s Lajpat Nagar area. She was there for two hours. But the police reached the lawyer’s house a couple days later.
- The police carried out searches in Gurgaon and other locations to get to the elusive Honeypreet, but she managed to stay a step ahead of the cops.
- On October 3, she mysteriously appears before the media claiming innocence and rubbishing all that is being reported about her relationship with Gurmeet Ram Rahim.
