A 19-year-old girl from Somalia was gang-raped before being thrown to her death off a building by at least 11 men in a gruesome attack.
Hamdi Mohamed Farah, who is 19, suffered a horrifying ordeal before she was thrown off the 6th floor of a building.
She died on the spot.
The poor student was attacked in Mogadishu, Somalia.
11 people have been arrested in connection with the horrible incident.
The police released a statement about the incident, where they said:
We have arrested 11 people over the recent rape case in Wabari neighbourhood in Mogadishu and efforts to track and identify other suspects are ongoing.
The incident happened on September 11, 2020.
The poor girl was due to enroll in college next year.
She had just completed high-school.
The murder and rape of Hamdi have sparked outrage and potential massive protests in the upcoming days as people are demanding an end to violence against women.
The incident has also caught the attention of influential people in Somalia.
Mustaf Sheikh Ali Duhulow, an MP, released a statement about the incident, where he said:
The rape and killing of Hamdi sent shockwaves across Somalia, and no stone will be left unturned to ensure justice is served.
Hassan Moalim, another MP, said:
I want to tell the Somali people and my constituents that I will not rest until the late Hamdi gets the justice she deserves.
Abdirahman Abdishakur –Leader of Wadajir Party, released a statement about the incident on Twitter.
He said:
I condemn the brutal rape & murder of Hamdi Mohamed Farah, may Allah have mercy on her soul. Rape & sexual offences against women are acts that have recently become rampant in our society. We have to collectively confront this kind of crime and reject it with one voice. Investigative agencies should swiftly bring to book the perpetrators of this crime so they could face the full force of the law.
