22-Year-Old Protester Dies 2 Days After Being Exposed To Tear Gas And Pepper Spray

The death of a young anti-racism protester is currently being investigated by the police after she died following an exposure to tear gas and pepper spray.

22-year-old Sarah Grossman, an Ohio coffee shop worker, died after having a cardiac arrest.

Grossman was found unresponsive by her family members 2 days after she was reportedly among protesters that sprayed by police during a George Floyd rally in Columbus, Ohio.

The incident happened on May 28, 2020.

The father of Sarah told the Montgomery County Coroner’s Office on May 31, 2020, that his daughter was exposed to tear gas and pepper spray that was discharged by the police as part of crowd control.

Her autopsy report revealed that she suffered a heart attack.

The 22-year-old woman was rushed to the Sycamore Hospital after she suffered a heart attack.

The cause of her death is currently being investigated by the authorities.

Initially, her death was reported as a suspected overdose, but no toxicology screening has been completed.

The family of the 22-year-old woman denies any history of drug abuse.

However, the 22-year-old did have peanut allergies.

The sister of Grossman said online that she believes she may have died from respiratory issues.

Robin Davis, a spokeswoman for the Montgomery County, said:

Police did use gasses to disperse crowds that night. Again, we encourage anyone who was with her at the protest or on May 29 or 30 before she went to Sycamore to talk to Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office or (Columbus police).

The family of the 22-year-old woman released a statement about their daughter, who was known as a very passionate environmental rights activist:

It is impossible to find the words to describe her kindness, unique spirit, and unwavering dedication to her convictions. Sarah was a fierce but compassionate supporter of environmental issues and social justice. A genuine friend who loved and cherished her extraordinary friendships. She was the most caring and thoughtful daughter, a beloved granddaughter, and a loving sibling and best friend to her sister Jessa.

Our thoughts and prayers are with the family of the 22-year-old protester.

May her soul rest in peace.
