A 23-year-old teacher from Australia was arrested by the authorities for sexually abusing a student and urging him to send nude images on Snapchat.
Monica Elizabeth Young, the 23-year-old teacher, asked the boy for his nude images.
According to Mail Online, Young has been charged with 10 offenses.
A Bankstown Local Court magistrate in Australia also denied her bail due to fears that she will reach out to the witnesses.
Young is currently facing charges of aggravated sexual assault with a child aged between 14 and 16.
Official papers suggest that she committed some of the crimes during school hours on June 24 and July 3, 2020.
On July 10, 2020, Young was arrested by the authorities from her home in Sydney, Australia.
Devices that had conversations were also seized by the authorities.
According to a police prosecutor, the police uncovered a number of conversations on Snapchat where she was encouraging a student to send nude images.
A CCTV footage that was recovered from the school of the victim showed the pair having a contact.
The court also said that the teacher attempted to interfere with the case and contacted the mother of the pupil to explain the incident.
Glenn Walsh, a Magistrate, said that Young tried to get around the case after she knew about it.
Magistrate Walsh added:
Firstly by representing herself as a different Snapchat user and secondly attempting to contact the mother of the complainant to try and explain away the circumstances of conduct.
Young appeared in court through video link with her mother, grandmother, and father watching.
Young was a couple of weeks away from marrying her boyfriend of 6 years when the police arrested her.
Young is also facing charges of two counts of intentionally sexually touching a child, intentionally inciting a child to sexually touch and related offenses.
Geoff Harrison, her barrister, applied for bail and suggested that Young should stay with her grandmother on house arrest.
Young, who has no previous criminal records, could offer $50,000 surety.
