Anti-Abortion Protesters Arrested Outside Charlotte Abortion Clinic For Violating Stay Inside Home Order

Charlotte, NC: A number of anti-abortion protesters were arrested by the police for refusing to comply with the state’s stay-at-home order.

8 protesters were arrested outside a North Carolina abortion clinic were arrested on Saturday for refusing to comply with the state’s stay-at-home order for the coronavirus.

The news was confirmed by the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police.

According to the police, around 50 protesters were seen outside a Preferred Women’s Health Center of Charlotte.

The protesters were issued citations for violating the emergency order.

Roy Cooper, the governor of the state, ordered those mass gatherings of more than 10 people will be prohibited.

Out of the protesters, 8 did not comply with the order, so they were arrested by the police.

The names of the protesters that got arrested were not released to the public.

The charge is a low-grade misdemeanor, with no jail time for a first offense.

The Charlotte-Mecklenburg police said they will be emphasizing voluntary compliance with the order.

However, the department will be enforcing violations “if voluntary cooperation is not gained.”
