An Italian soldier was stabbed in the throat with scissors outside a Milan Train Station by a man who shouted “Allahu Akbar”.
The incident happened on the Piazza Duca d’Aosta in Milan by 10:45 am on September 17, 2019.
A 23-year-old man reportedly stabbed the Italian Solider in his neck and shoulder with a pair of scissors.
The man then went towards Via Vittor Pisani, where he was detained by the paramilitary Carabinieri Police Officers.
After being arrested, the man reportedly shouted “Allahu Akbar”, which means “God is Great”.
The same man was reported to the police earlier this week after he tried to attack civilians in the area with a pen.
The Italian Soldier was rushed to the Fatebenefratelli Hospital in Milan, where he was treated for a deep stab wound in the neck and other non-life threatening injuries.
The police reported that the 34-year-old soldier was conscious when he arrived at the hospital.
Investigating officers are now trying to find out if the man who stabbed the soldier, who belongs to the 5th Alpine Regiment of the Julia Brigade, has links with terrorist organizations.
The Italian Army said, “The subject was promptly immobilized by the soldiers thanks to the techniques acquired during military combat training.”
