According to the latest numbers released by the state-run media of China, around 361 people have died from the Coronavirus and at least 17,205 people have been infected with the virus.
Scared by the fact that the WHO (World Health Organization) has declared the Coronavirus as a Global Health Emergency, people in China decided to keep their loved ones protected.
In the latest precautionary measures that are being done by the people of China, pet owners are buying pet masks for their pooches as the number of coronavirus patients are continuously growing and are not expected to go down in the upcoming weeks.
33-year-old Zhou Tianxiao, an online retailer from Beijing China, reported that he selling 10 times the amount of dog masks than he usually did before the coronavirus spread out in China.
Originally, the masks that Zhou sells were made to help protect pet dogs from air pollution.
Zhou started to sell the masks in 2018 on Taobao, an e-commerce website in China.
During an interview with the MailOnline, Zhou said, “[The dog masks] might not be as professional as the medical masks made for humans, but they are functional.”
The retailer sells the dog masks at the price of $7 for a pack of 3.
The masks stop the dogs to breathe in bad air, eating out food that is on the floor, licking things on the floor, and protection against the virus.
The WHO said it is still unclear whether the virus has any impact on the health of the animals.
WHO said, “No particular event has been reported in any species.”
The National Health Commission of China warned pet owners that they should be cautious around infected patients.
Li Lanjuan, an epidemiologist with the National Health Commission’s committee for the virus, said, “If pets go out and have contact with an infected person, they have the chance to get infected.”
