Japan engineers would always be first in this type of inventions. All the inventions of them would be very different and will be helpful for busy lives to make it easy. There are many such inventions which would surprise you. Here comes another one which helps us in travelling less distances. Had you ever heard about Pocket-sized personal transporter? The name itself is bit confusing and makes us question what is it?
Those who are planning to buy a car, wait for some time for this tiny car. A Japanese engineer has developed a portable transporter small enough to be carried in a backpack that he says is the world’s first ‘car in a bag’. Twenty-six-year-old Kuniako Sato and his team at Cocoa Motors recently unveiled the lithium battery-powered “Walk Car” transporter. This Walk Car is of the size of a laptop and resembles a skateboard more than a car.
The slender Walk Car is made from aluminium and weighs between two and three kilograms. There are two types of Walk Cars. They are named as indoor or outdoor versions. Sato expects to see many other uses for his transporter, as he says it has enough power to help people push wheelchairs with ease. This aluminium board can carry up to 120 kg weight. Coming to the speed, it reaches top speeds of 10 kmph.
Once if we charge it fully, it travels up to 12 km distance. Once the rider stands on it the Walk Car starts automatically and when simply stepping off, it stops. To change direction, the user must shift his weight to that direction he wants. There are many advantages of Walk Car. These days, we have to spend lot of money on our vehicles. But this Walk Car is away and different from those problems.
Sato said his studies in electric car motor control systems sparked the idea for the new kind of ride. “I thought, ‘what if we could just carry our transportation in our bags, wouldn’t that mean we’d always have our transportation with us to ride on?’ and my friend asked me to make one, since I was doing my masters in engineering specifically on electric car motor control systems,” added more.
“Maybe I just see it that way, but it seems to me that the U.S. is always the one which invents new products and Japan is the one which takes those products and improves on them to make a better version of it. But here in this case, the Walk Car is a totally new product I have started from scratch. So I also want to show the world that Japan can also be innovative,” he said. Need of buying Walk Car is no parking place required, no fuel needed and it comes at low cost.
Sato says customers will be able to reserve their own Walk Cars from autumn (August) 2015 on the crowd funding website Kickstarter. The futuristic skate-board will have a price-tag of around 100,000 Japanese Yen (approx. $800 USD).
